33 but 18

So today is my birthday and yes I turned 33! I remember being in college and thinking that people in their 20's were old and in your thirties, wow. I love this time of my life, I sure don't feel 33, I still feel (except for the occasional achy muscles and bones) like I am 18. So yes I may be 33 today, but I still feel 18 which is also the weight that I have lost so far, 18 lbs, wahoo! My goal is to be down another 5 before we go on vacation in June which should be a snap. I hope to be down another 10 before we go, we will see. Hope you all have a great day, it sure is ABSOLUTELY beautiful here in the Midwest, sunny and up to 80 today, happy birthday to me.

Bunco

Last night was such a fun night, seven other moms and I all got together for "Bunco", ah yeah sure we did, well we truly meant too, however, it never happened. We had so much fun hanging out talking, eating and drinking that before we knew it the clock said 10:30pm. What happened to the evening, we were all having such a great time laughing and comparing stories that the time just slipped away from us. It was so nice to be able to talk to other moms that have children the same age as my two and to hear that they too are struggling with the same things I struggle with! That their husbands get just as frustrated as mine and deal with it in almost the same type of matter. That their children fight them on going to the bathroom before they leave the house or on what they are going to eat for dinner. That their kiddos would rather sit in front of the t.v. all day than play outside. We all had such a GREAT time that we have decided to make it a monthly thing, the last Friday of every month we will get together for what we will say is "Bunco", but we may or may not get around to playing. Any moms that live here in town and want to join the group are more than welcome it is such a great outlet and time away from motherhood, just let me know.

Tuesdays Tasties

Chicken Rice Burritos

Cook 2 cups of chicken breast and shred into pieces. Add to shredded chicken, 1/4 cup chicken broth, 1 tablespoon of chili powder and 3/4 cup Picante sauce. Mix thoroughly and set aside.

In a sauce pan, mix 1/2 cup white rice and 1 1/4 cups chicken broth- cover and cook on medium to medium high heat until most of the chicken broth is absorbed, you will need to watch it and stir occasionally so the rice doesn't stick to the pan. Then add 1/2 cup Picante Sauce and simmer again until most of the liquid is absorbed, turn heat down a little and again watch and stir, usually takes about 5 minutes.

Stir rice mix into chicken , mix. Add 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese to the chicken and rice mix, stir well so cheese melts. Place mixture onto flour tortillas and roll up like burritos. If you use the smaller tortillas you should get about 8, larger you will get more around 4. Bake for 10 minutes or until corners of tortilla are browning and getting crunchy at 375 on an ungreased baking sheet.

One of our favorites around here, even BOTH the girls ate it last night, now that tells you something right there.

A Night with Madeline

Our friends Lori and Dave had tickets to the hockey game last night and asked if I would mind watching Madeline for them so they could go, my answer.....absolutely not!! The girls and I got to watch her from 5pm to about 10:30pm and enjoyed every single minute of it. I can't believe that she is already 4 months old, seems like just yesterday Lori had her! Here are a few pictures I took of all the girls, everyone did great.

Claire couldn't get enough time with her, she LOVED holding her and was a great help.
Paige did great with her too, however, she didn't need quite as much Madeline time to fill her quota. :)
I love this picture look at that adorable face and those big blue eyes!
Claire took this picture of the two of us, she was in such a great mood and giving me tons of smiles and just laughing.
Tummy time for everyone.
Love this picture too, Paige shared one of her favorite toys with Madeline, her HoHo monkey, looks like Madeline liked it too.

Top 12

The top 12 contestants on American Idol were announced this week so who are you rooting for? Here are my top 4 girls in order from favorite to least favorite and top 3 guys. I had it narrowed down to top 3 girls, but Katie Stevens is so cute and does have a good voice she just had a bad night this week.

Didi Benami- I have been a fan of hers ever since I saw one of her audition in Hollywood. She has such a different voice and we LOVED her this week with "Rhiannon" so good!! She is my fave.

Crystal Bowersox- She has a different voice as well and is Cory's favorite girl this season. I like her, but does the girl have any feelings, did you see her this week when Ryan was announcing the top 12, she didn't smile, not once.

Siobhan Magnus- Man does this girl have a voice, she can REALLY sing! I love that she is different and not afraid to show it.

Katie Stevens- Like I said earlier she is super cute and does have a good voice, just royally screwed up this week with "Breakaway".

Lee Dewyze- He is my favorite guy, love his voice too! He did great last week with "Lips of an Angel" and his version of "Fireflies" this week was good too. I like that he isn't afraid to sing current songs.

Michael Lynche- who isn't a fan of Big Mike? He has such a great storyline with just having a baby etc and he is a great singer. He did a FANTASTIC job this week with "This Women's Work".

Casey James- I am not the biggest fan of good old Casey, but Cory likes him so we root for him. I think he may go the country route, we will see.

2 Months

I am happy to say that I am still sticking with the diet, it has been 2 months as of yesterday. I got up this morning hopped on the scale and saw some really encouraging numbers, I am down 15 lbs. I have 7 more to get back to my original weight and then I am really going to try to lose another 10 on top of that. We are going on our family vacation at the end of June and I would love to be the thinnest I have been since high school when we go, keep your fingers crossed for me!! The past few weeks have been hard as the weight isn't coming off as easily as it was at the beginning, but I can't let myself get frustrated I have to just keep pushing on! I have 2 1/2 weeks until my birthday and I was really hoping to be back to my original weight by then, but I don't see it happening there is no way I can lose 7 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks, oh well maybe another 4.
I am also proud to tell you all that Cory has been sticking with his diet too and is down 7 lbs. He would be even less if he could have gone to the gym this week, but with his "procedure" that was done last Thursday the doctor told him to take a week of from the gym. I can already see a difference in him, especially in his face. Keep up the good work honey!!

On another note the girls and I went downtown to see Cory at work today. Of course it has been sunny and beautiful, in the upper 60's to low 70's all week and we pick the day that it is raining and in the 40's to go. Both the girls wanted to continue wearing their flip flops that they have gotten use to wearing again this week, along with either a dress or skirt and nothing on their tiny, thin legs. Here are a few pictures of our lunch date with daddy.

Claire loved sitting at daddy's desk and pretending it was her desk and that she was "working".
Taking some very important notes, I won't be surprised if she follows in her daddy's footsteps and goes into the business world. Hey maybe some day she will even work at Purina too! :)
Outside looking at the Japanese Koi fish with daddy. Ever since Claire heard the story of how one of daddy's co-workers little boys fell in the pond she is very leery of the fish and today was definitely NOT having anything to do with those fish.

You can see Claire keeping her distance in the background.

Claire wanted to take a picture of Cory and I so here you go. It was so funny watching her with my big ol camera, she was making some funny noises and telling us to smile.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Don't have to ask me twice!

Have any of you seen this new Yacht that a French shipbuilding ship company joined with one in Monaco built called the WHY 58 X 38? It is supposedly a "green" yacht, that has seating for 12 passengers and 20 crew.

On the lower deck are the common premises, such as lounge, piano bar and dining area
The dining room opens onto the sea view

Three decks, a 25 meter pool, a spa, helicopter pad, sauna, gym and massage room, a 130 meter promenade, music room, dining room, cinema, sun decks, suites, terraces, lounge.
The decks are connected by stairs but there is also an elevator.

Is that all, geesh I am in who is coming with me???

Tuesdays Tasties

Sherried Chicken and Rice

2 cups Minute rice (raw)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can celery soup
1/2 cup milk
1 package of Lipton onion dry soup
1 cup cooking sherry

Stir rice, both soups and milk and spread over bottom of 9 X 13 pan sprayed with Pam. Place meaty pieces of raw chicken over rice. Pour 1 cup cooking sherry over all. Sprinkle 1 package Lipton onion dry soup over all. Cover with foil and bake 2 1/2 hours at 325.

This is such an easy recipe, anything that you don't have to cook before hand and can just throw it all together and put into the oven is my kind of meal. Not only is it good but easy too. When it is done you already have your main course (chicken) and a side (the rice), if you feel like you need a veggie or salad go for it, however, we are usually good with the chicken and rice. Enjoy!

Copycat

I knew this time would come as it always does with anyone who has more than one child. It started about two weeks ago with Paige wanting to know and do everything Claire is doing. Here are a few examples:

She wants to wear the same shirt/outfit as Claire

If possible she wants her shoes to match Claire's

At bed time if Claire's door is open then Paige wants hers open or if it is closed then Paige wants her closed too.

If Claire's fan is on then Paige wants her fan on.

If they are both having a microwavable pretzel for lunch (I know great lunch right) and I ask if Paige wants salt she will ask if Claire is having salt and will then answer however I say Claire is having her pretzel.

I am sure the list could go on and on, but you all get the picture. I think that it is cute how Paige wants to do everything like her big sister and for the time being Claire doesn't mind it, she even laughs and tells Paige she is so funny for wanting to be like her. I know that time will come to an end and Claire will start to get annoyed by it as my older sister did, but for now I am enjoying it!!

The taste of spring!

Spring is getting so close that I actually tasted it today! Over the weekend the girls and I ran to Sam's to get a few things and while we were there I saw they already have watermelons out. The girls and I all love watermelon so I decided to chance it and buy one fully expecting it to be a let down. When we got home I cut it up and put it into the fridge.

After the gym today I had to run by the grocery store to get a few things and saw that they had strawberries out and they actually looked pretty good and ripe. Again I took a chance as I think, well actually I know that Paige would eat them everyday for every meal if they were in season all year round. So we came home I washed the strawberries and cut some up along with some watermelon for lunch and my mouth did the happy dance. Ah, spring you are getting close aren't you? We are suppose to see sunshine and have temps in the mid to upper 50's this weekend!!
