A Night of Firsts

Monday night Claire went to her first Cardinal Baseball game with her Uncle Ryan and Aunt Lauren. You would think that after 4 years of being a mom that I would have learned not to tell her anything until the day of or at least not until the day before it is going to happen, wrong! I get so excited for her that I usually tell her we are going somewhere or doing something as soon as it is set in stone. Well I told Claire a week before she was going to the game that she was going, so we had to have a count down all week long. Not only was she going to her first Cardinal Bird as she calls it, game, but she also was going to spend the night at their house!! We had to go out and buy her a Cardinals shirt, which by the way is hard to do if you don't want to spend more than $15 and wait until only a few days before you need it.
Lauren and Ryan thought it would be fun to take Claire down to the stadium early to watch batting practice and to walk around and see the stadium. When Lauren brought Claire home yesterday morning the first thing she told me about was how some player by the name of Albert hurting his ankle but he was okay. I saw on t.v that when Mr. Pujols was sliding into base that he hurt his ankle so I knew what she was talking about, but it was so cute to see how concerned she was about him. Ryan told Cory later that she was fixated on it for awhile, that's my girl concerned about others. :) The next thing that Claire told me about was obviously her favorite part, when she got to meet Fredbird. Originally Ryan was just going to take a picture of Lauren and Claire with Fredbird so he had Lauren's purse and the camera, but then a bystander said they would take the picture of all of them, therefore leading Ryan to be in the picture with Lauren's purse. Well Fredbird gave Uncle Ryan a had time about having a purse and even spit at him which Claire thought was HILARIOUS!! While they were at the stadium they also bought her, her own tray of nachos and Sprite to drink. They also got some peanuts to share and Claire told me it was fun to eat the peanuts and then throw the shells on the ground and stomp on them, she loves peanuts. Our new stadium also has a kids area which Ryan and Lauren took Claire to, but Lauren said it only held her attention for a little while.
About the 4th inning they decided to leave and take Claire to her experience Ted Drew's for the first time as well. Claire told me that she had strawberry with cherries on top (don't know where she gets her like for cherries, neither Cory or I like them). When I asked her why she got strawberry, she said because it is pink, well of course that is why I should have known that, silly mom!
Thank you again Uncle Ryan and Aunt Lauren this is definitely a night she will remember for ever!!
