Make or Break

Last Wednesday, March 25th marks the day that I started potty training Paige. Am I completely crazy trying to do this with my 23 month old? Claire was potty trained at 25 months and basically all on her own doing, she was the one who initiated it so I went along with it, what mom wouldn't? Paige seemed ready as well, she started telling me that she wanted to go tinkle on the potty and so off I ran with it. Man even though it hasn't even been quite 2 years since I went through this with Claire I have totally forgotten what a pain in the butt the whole process is. I do have to admit that with Claire I was housebound for an entire week I didn't dare go anywhere in fear that she might have an accident. Now Paige is a different story I have to go places such as taking Claire to and from school and running errands. I just take our potty seat along for the ride as well. It has worked out really well, today for example we got to Walmart and before we went inside Paige went potty. Then we ran a few more errands and as we were leaving Three French Hens (I am looking for a spring wreath for my front door) she told me she had to go tinkle, so she went on the potty, and on our way home we went. Paige has graduated to big girl underwear a lot faster than Claire did. Paige thinks that a diaper and pull-up are the same thing and she is basically right. So the only time she has a pull-up on is at nap and then a diaper at bedtime. She has only had one accident in her Elmo underwear and got very upset by it. Today has been a good day she has gone both #1 and #2 on the potty, I am just completed drained. You always have to be on your toes waiting for the call to race to the bathroom. I hope this whole process is pretty much wrapped up in a few days and doesn't break me in the meantime.

  1. I know it is difficult but keep going. You are definitely on the right track since Paige is doing such a great job. Keep telling yourself how nice it will be to be out of diapers and the money you will save in buying diapers. Good work Julie and Paige!!

  2. Wow! That is awesome. I can't believe Paige is even old enough to be potty training. Just thinking - you are only weeks away from being diaper free. (I won't be jealous, I won't be jealous, I won't be jealous...)

  3. Oh my gosh, really? Wow! I don't think Drew is ready...we've had a seat since 17 months and I've showed him how to use it, he likes to sit on it while I go, but he hasn't gone on it. I'm first going to switch him to the toddler bed probably May/June when we change his room to "big boy" room, then try to introduce potty training sometime this summer...we'll see!
